Place to be

From 2025, Cips will be held permanently in Guangzhou. This marks a significant change from the previous rotation between Shanghai and Guangzhou, and is intended to honour the tradition of holding the event in Guangzhou every year in mid-November, the organisers of the show have announced.

The exhibition was first held in Guangzhou in 2003, starting a rotation between Beijing and Guangzhou. Following the opening of the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in Shanghai in 2015, Cips has alternated between Shanghai and Guangzhou for the last decade. At the last edition, more than 70,000 visitors from 120 countries visited the 1 400 exhibitors across 100,000 m2 of exhibition space.

“The stabilisation of the venue and date is intended to provide a reliable framework for long-term planning for both exhibitors and trade visitors,” explain the organisers. “We believe this will improve the continuity and predictability of the arrangements and alleviate the challenges associated with fluctuations in the past.” The move to a permanent venue in Guangzhou is seen as an opportunity to continually improve the quality of service to unlock greater commercial opportunities.

Facts and figures about Cips 2025

By the end of August, over 30,000 trade visitors from more than 120 countries had registered, marking a roughly 30% increase compared to the previous year. Confirmed participants include Fressnapf, Cobasi, Plaček, Dohse Aquaristik and PetSmart.

To capitalise on this momentum, Cips has optimised its B2B matchmaking system. From 13 to 15 November, buyers and exhibitors will meet in 25-minute sessions on site after selecting each other online. Participation is free of charge for approved buyers and exhibitors, with several time slots available each day.

Cips 2025 will host over 1,200 exhibitors, showcasing a wide range of categories including cats, dogs, aquatics, reptiles, small animals, exotic pets and birds. Over 80% of these exhibitors are integrated suppliers with design, R&D and manufacturing capabilities, which is an increasingly important model for private label and compliance-oriented sourcing. Collectively, they represent companies that account for around 70% of global production.

While the exhibition space showcases what the industry produces, the conference programme explores why and how. The Cips International Pet Industry Convention (CIPIC) takes place over two days, exploring the themes of 'Unlimited Connection' and 'Unlimited Development'. The first day focuses on collaboration and innovation, examining how private label partnerships are evolving and how retailers are adapting to changing consumer behaviour. The second day focuses on sustainability and responsibility, covering topics such as ESG frameworks, traceability, and circular models that are already being tested in practice.

The 2nd Aquatic Industry Convention, organised in collaboration with Ornamental Fish International (OFI), adds a focused category. Its theme, 'Potential in challenging times: reform, innovation and aquatic development amid globalisation and regionalisation', covers regulatory changes in Europe and North America, fast-growing markets such as Vietnam, Brazil and India, and the specific challenges of aquatics.
