The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) has reviewed and officially validated Coveris’ short-term climate targets, according to a press release from the company. This milestone is intended to underline the packaging manufacturer’s commitment to science-based emissions reduction and to strengthen its ‘No Waste’ vision on the path towards a fully circular economy.

An overview of the validated targets: Coveris S.A. commits to reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions for Scope 1 and 2 by 54.6 per cent by 2033 compared to the base year of 2023. Furthermore, the company commits to reducing absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 32.5 per cent over the same period.

These targets are in line with the SBTi’s guidelines, which aim to limit global warming to well below two degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels, thereby preventing the most severe consequences of climate change.
