The Labrador Retriever is the most popular purebreed dog in America.  

For the 15th consecutive year, the Labrador Retriever is the most popular purebreed dog in America with 146,692 registrations in 2004. The American Kennel Club (AKC) announced that nearly three times as many Labrador Retrievers were registered in 2004 as any other breed. Golden Retrievers came in behind, followed by German Shepherds,
