“This premium quality, fine granule litter provides superior absorbency thanks to the company’s exclusive use of only the purest clay available,” Danielle Lalonde, vice-president Sales & Marketing, says. 15 years after launching “Extreme Classic”, the first cat litter with a fresh baby powder scent, Intersand introduces two new products to its “Extreme Classic” line: the “Odour-Lock” and the “Kitten and long hair” formulas:
O the “Odour-Lock” has an odour neutralizer. By killing odour-causing bacteria on contact, it guarantees a fresher, totally odour-free and dust-free litter box for weeks. It’s recommended for multi-cat households, breeders, senior cats, non-castrated males and small urban dwellings.
O “Kitten and long hair” is specially formulated to offer a safe and hygienic litter for kittens. It cannot clump in their nose, preventing them from breathing, or stick to their paws. It is also recommended for cats with long hair, because this formula won’t stick to their fur either.
Targeting the needs of cats
Intersand was founded in 1992 with the objective of manufacturing and packaging natural absorbents for feline hygiene. Its two original guiding principles were simple: provide effective litter products using the highest quality raw materials available, and strive to meet the needs of clients. By 1996, it had become clear that the company's national-brand and private-label products were a huge success in Canada, and so the time had come to conquer the cats of Europe. In 2004 Stéphane Chevigny, president and chief executive officer, redefined Intersand's mission: “Improving and simplifying animal hygiene through innovation.” By the turn of the 21st century, Intersand's sales had grown rapidly, as had its foreign markets. “The logical next step was expansion,” Danielle Lalonde continues. So in 2005 the company added some 1 700 m2 to its manufacturing plant and built a second, larger warehouse. In 2007, the plant had to be enlarged again, and more cutting-edge automated production lines were added. “Thanks to these sound investments in the company's future, Intersand has never been better positioned to manufacture and deliver quality products,” Danielle Lalonde states.
Its environmental conscience has also led the company to create litters containing only compatible natural materials, thus guaranteeing products that meet the high health, safety and environmental standards customers have come to expect…
