One year after microchipping became mandatory for cats in England, Jollyes points out that up to 10 per cent of domestic cats in the UK still do not have a microchip, with owners facing a fine of 500 GBP. According to an RSPCA study, over a third of cat owners find the cost of microchipping their pets difficult to afford, and 11 per cent of cat owners are unaware of the law.
Jollyes offers affordable microchips to pet owners in the UK and provides educational information. Most of its 100 specialist shops run an additional veterinary clinic and offer microchipping for just 20 GBP. “Since microchips became mandatory for all cats, we have kept the cost of complying with the new law low so that pet owners can easily avoid the risk of a heavy fine,” said Adam Dury, chief operating officer at Jollyes.
The pet specialist has also recently launched its Big-Cat-Takeover-campaign and significantly expanded its cat product range, offering 48 per cent more items after internal data showed that sales of cat food had surpassed those of dog food.
