Spanish pet retailer Tiendanimal has launched the fourth edition of its educational initiative Tiendanimal Educa 2.0, which aims to promote responsible pet ownership and animal welfare among primary school children. According to a press statement by company, the programme, developed in cooperation with Royal Canin, has reached more than 17,000 pupils at over 200 schools throughout Spain since its introduction. The initiative focuses on teaching children about the responsibilities involved in keeping pets, including their physical, social and behavioural needs.
The workshops cover aspects of animal care such as nutrition, hygiene, health, exercise and adoption. They are designed for primary school pupils and use interactive activities to explain the importance of treating animals responsibly and meeting their needs throughout their lives.
In addition to providing practical information about pet care, the programme addresses broader values such as empathy, respect and responsibility. Tiendanimal aims to encourage children to share what they have learned with their families, extending the educational impact beyond the classroom.
Caroline Arrú, Co-sponsor of Tiendanimal's ESG Committee and Chief Marketing and Customer Officer, said in the press statement, the company intended to continue expanding the initiative following its participation figures to date.
During the 2026/2027 school year, Tiendanimal Educa 2.0 will be available in Málaga, Seville, Alicante, Valencia, Barcelona and Madrid. The programme will also visit Oviedo, Gijón and Avilés in Asturias, as well as A Coruña, Ferrol and Lugo in Galicia.
