The Fressnapf Group is continuing its growth trajectory in Europe and has reached a double milestone: with a new Urban Store in Paris, Europe’s leading pet retailer is opening its 500th store in France and, at the same time, the Group’s 3,000th store.

France is one of Fressnapf | Maxi Zoo’s most important growth markets: in 2025 alone, the company opened more than 60 new outlets there. Together with Italy and Poland, France plays a central role in the Group’s ongoing expansion.

“When I founded Fressnapf in 1990, the idea was based on a deep conviction that still drives us today: pets make our lives happier. This conviction is at the heart of our vision, ‘Happier Pets. Happier People.’ And from day one, our mission has been to make the lives of pets and their owners easier, better and happier,” says Torsten Toeller, founder and majority shareholder of the Fressnapf Group. “Back then, I could never have imagined that we would one day be the European market leader with 3,000 stores in 15 countries – and the number one in nine of those countries. That makes me incredibly proud and grateful. This development is the result of the commitment of more than 20,000 employees, our franchise partners, our suppliers and the trust of more than 20 million animal-loving customers. 3,000 shops demonstrate what we have achieved together – and, at the same time, the potential that still lies ahead of us.”

The pace of expansion remains high: Fressnapf | Maxi Zoo opened a total of 188 new stores in 2024, followed by a further 195 new openings in 2025. More than 150 further new openings are planned for 2026.

France is one of the Group’s most important growth markets; the expansion of the European branch network remains a key pillar of its growth strategy.
