PLMA has published its first comprehensive report on market share data compiled by NielsenIQ, entitled ‘A Mosaic of Markets: PLMA’s 2026 Report on the Status of Private Label Across Europe.’

The report, which is available online, provides a comprehensive overview of sales performance in 2025 for both private labels and manufacturer brands across 17 European countries. The data, monitored exclusively by NielsenIQ for the PLMA International Council, offers valuable insights into the changing retail landscape.

Some key findings include:

- Record sales: €387 bn, an increase of €15.3 bn, market share of 38.8%

- PL outperforms manufacturer brands in value and volume

- Shoppers are attracted by innovation, quality and choice

- 17 markets: Unique demographic characteristics, dynamic retail
