Tiendanimal, a pet care retailer operating across Iberia, took part for the second consecutive year in the 20th Madrid Adoption Fair, organised by the Community of Madrid. The event, held on 25 and 26 October at the Puente del Rey esplanade, aimed to encourage responsible adoption and raise awareness about animal welfare.

During the event, the company presented its digital platform Adopta con Tiendanimal, which connects families across Spain with animal shelters seeking homes for abandoned pets. The website highlights animals with special needs through labels such as ‘invisible’ and ‘urgent’, and also offers other ways to help, including temporary fostering, social media sharing, and donations.

At its stand, Tiendanimal provided personalised advice to visitors, with support from experts from its stores and the Clinicanimal veterinary network. The space also featured educational workshops from the Tiendanimal Educa 2.0 programme, designed to promote responsible pet ownership among schoolchildren throughout Spain.

Since 2017, Tiendanimal has facilitated 28,494 adoptions in Spain — 17,863 in person and 10,631 online — and donated around 1.5 million kilograms of pet food to shelters in Spain and Portugal since 2021. These efforts form part of its ongoing strategy to help reduce pet abandonment and to promote adoption as the main route for giving vulnerable animals a home.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 70% of dogs worldwide live without a stable home. This figure highlights the scale of the problem and the importance of initiatives that support responsible adoption and greater public awareness of animal welfare.
