Symrise AG, a leading global supplier of fragrances and flavours, cosmetics and functional ingredients, has announced that the company has received an investment-grade credit rating from both S&P Global and Moody's for the first time. The agencies have assigned long-term issuer ratings of BBB+ (S&P Global) and Baa1 (Moody's), with a stable outlook in both cases.

According to the agencies, these ratings reflect Symrise’s ability to create value thanks to its excellent market position, solid financial performance, forward-looking risk management and unique, diversified portfolio. The outlook was rated as 'stable', reflecting confidence in, and expectation of, continued stability in financial metrics.

Olaf Klinger, CFO of Symrise AG, said: “We are delighted to have received an investment-grade rating from S&P Global and Moody's for the first time. These ratings represent an important milestone for our company as they expand our access to capital markets and financing instruments. They reinforce the strength of our company and our commitment to financial discipline.”

These initial ratings improve access to global capital markets and investors, thereby supporting Symrise financially. BBB+ and Baa1 are the leading ratings for companies in the fragrance and flavour industry.

Deutsche Bank supported Symrise throughout the comprehensive process of obtaining the initial ratings, acting as rating advisor. With sales of around 5.0 bn euros in the 2024 financial year, Symrise is one of the world's leading suppliers. The group is headquartered in Holzminden and has more than 100 branches in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the USA and Latin America.
