On World-Stray-Animal-Day, which is celebrated every year on 27 July, Tiendanimal is calling for action against animal abandonment. The Spanish pet specialist with almost 130 stores reminds us that every gesture counts: adopting, training and neutering are important steps towards a future without abandoned animals.

“In 2023 alone, more than 170 000 animals were taken in by animal shelters”, explains Caroline Arrú, co-sponsor of the ESG Committee and chief marketing and customer officer at Tiendanimal, describing the situation in Spain. The company highlights many ways to improve the quality of life for all these animals:

- Adoption saves lives. So far in 2025, more than 3 500 adoptions have already been arranged.

- Teaching respect and responsibility towards animals must begin at an early age. For this reason, Tiendanimal promotes the Tiendanimal Educa programme, which has already reached more than 70 schools throughout Spain.

- Sterilisation is prevention. Uncontrolled reproduction is one of the main causes of animal abandonment.

- Donations of food, medicine, cleaning products or transport.

- Volunteering, guided tours with animals or assistance with logistical tasks.

- Sharing adoption stories on social media.
