Net sales in Hornbach’s DIY stores and garden centres as well as from online shops in nine European countries rose by 4.9 per cent in the first six months (March to August) compared with the same period last year to 3.2368 bn euros. Like-for-like sales net of currency items grew by 1.9 per cent.

The net sales of Hornbach DIY stores in Germany increased by 1.4 per cent to 1.6 bn euros, with like-for-like sales growing by 0.9 per cent. Outside Germany, sales grew by 8.6 per cent to 1.6351 bn euros. The share of sales generated abroad increased from 48.8 per cent to 50.5 per cent. Sales on a comparable store area and adjusted for currency items grew by 2.9 per cent in other European countries.

Hornbach’s online business (including click & collect) accounted for 14.8 per cent of the company’s total DIY store turnover in the first six months of the fiscal year. In the comparable period of fiscal 2019/20 it was 9.6 per cent. Direct shipment sales were marginally lower than those of the previous year. As a whole, online sales declined by 19.1 per cent in the first six months as compared with the previous year to 479.8 mio euros.
