The pet market in India is growing fast. According to a report by the Creature Companion trade magazine, it is expected that the Indian pet supplies industry will record sales of 533 mio dollars by the end of this year.

It is also forecast that sales will increase at an annual growth rate of 22.15 per cent to around 1 bn dollars by 2026. Pet food will account for roughly 80 per cent of this, the magazine reports, referring to the results of a study by Bonafide Research.

A report by National Geographic indicates that 35 million dogs live on the street in India. This figure is up by 17 per cent from 2016. More and more people are also caring for dogs living wild, which accounts for a significant share of the market growth in relation to pet food.
