For fiscal year 2021/22 (1 March to 28 February) Hornbach announced record group sales of 5.9 bn euros, equating to an increase across Europe of 7.7 per cent compared with the previous year. Hornbach's DIY stores generated growth of 7.4 per cent to 5.496 bn euros, of which 4.8 per cent was generated in Germany (2.780 bn euros) and 10.3 per cent in the rest of Europe (2.715 bn euros). Like-for-like sales growth was 5.4 per cent. The Hornbach Group invested 178.6 mio euros in fiscal 2021/22, nearly 16 per cent more than in the previous year, which was used to open five new stores in Europe and for four planned new openings in fiscal 2022/23.

According to figures from GfK, Hornbach increased its market share in the Nehterlands, Austria and Switzerland during the last financial year. In Germany, its market share rose from 14.0 to 15.1 per cent. For the present financial year, 2022/23, the management expects group sales to marginally surpass the level of fiscal 2021/22.

Profitability (adjusted EBIT margin) for the group increased in fiscal 2021/22 from 6.0 per cent to 6.2 per cent. In the Hornbach Baumarkt AG division, the adjusted EBIT grew by 12.9 per cent to 314.7 mio euros and the adjusted EBIT margin from 5.4 per cent to 5.7 per cent.
