The company aims to reduce the CO2 pawprint of dogs significantly. According to Alvar, the pet food recipes it retails replace high-emission ingredients such as rice, lamb and beef with more sustainable alternatives such as potatoes, oats and Baltic herring.
As a result, the food and its components, along with manufacture and delivery of the products, generate 84 per cent fewer emissions compared with other premium brands. The recipes are developed by the in-house team.
