Zoo Med purchases Aquatrol

Zoo Med has purchased the company Aquatrol, which is a manufacturer of vacation food blocks, fish food flakes and various other tropical fish products. The company was started in the mid 1970s by Doc Adams, who before this venture owned a large tropical fish store in Long Beach, called Adam’s Tropical Fish. Aquatrol was the first company to produce a vacation food block (“Banquet”) and the first to produce a flake food containing spirulina algae. Zoo Med is now producing all the “Banquet” food blocks and the line of flake food, including spirulina 20.
