Fressnapf has reported sales of just under € 1.2 bn for fiscal 2009, an increase of 12.2 per cent compared with the previous year. In Germany, the franchise outfit?s sales were up by nine per cent to € 830.9 mio, with an increase of four per cent on existing retail areas. The company is growing faster in other European countries than in Germany: its stores in eleven countries generated sales of € 356.1 mio in 2009, equivalent to an increase of 20.5 per cent. 91 stores opened last year, including 39 in Germany. These openings brought the total number of stores at 31 December 2009 to 1 079, made up of 761 outlets in Germany and 318 elsewhere in Europe. Fressnapf aims to create a further 1 000 jobs in 2010 and to invest roughly € 50 mio in its German business and international expansion.
