Increasing sales

PetSmart reported net income of $38.1 million for the third quarter of 2009. That compares with net income of $35.8 million for the third quarter of 2008. Net sales for the third quarter of 2009 increased 3.5 percent to $1.29 billion, compared to the third quarter of 2008. Comparable store sales grew 0.3 per cent in the third quarter. Pet services sales were $136.7 million, up 8 per cent from the third quarter of last year.
