Masterfoods to cut 1,100 jobs in Europe

16.03.2005
UK likely to bear the brunt of the job losses

According to newspaper reports, Masterfoods Europe is planning to cut 1100 jobs. The Mars subsidiary is reacting to the continuing downturn in sales that the company has suffered in Europe in the last year. Around 120 jobs are likely to go in Germany, where there are apparently plans to combine two canning lines at the Verden site. The UK will probably be affected to a far greater extent than Germany by the company’s new rationalisation programme.
