This year marks the premiere of the Global Pet Expo. The American Pet Products Manufacturers Association (APPMA) and the Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA) have joined forces to put together America’s largest ever pet products trade show. The Global Pet Expo will include more than 2000 booths and 600 new product launches, as well as publicising the latest statistics from the most comprehensive surveys available. The media representatives attending will see for the first time the 2005-2006 APPMA National Pet Owners Survey, which retails for $895 and contains more than 300 pages of pet information, including the total number of pets owned in the USA. Other data released for the first time at the Global Pet Expo include the results of a newly conducted survey of high-end luxury pet products and a benchmarking survey detailing the fastest growing sectors of the industry, the state of the industry, market trends, how the various players are adapting to a rapidly changing landscape, health care advances and what’s driving the growth in pet ownership. 2004 national pet spending figures as well as projected sales figures for 2005 will also be announced.
