4.7 out of 5 stars

The pet and PET worldwide Product of the year 2024/2025, a GPS tracker from French manufacturer Weenect, is also  very popular with consumers.

The Weenext XT GPS collar with tracker for dogs has won the pet and PET worldwide Product of the Year 2024/2025 award in the dog and cat accessories category. PET worldwide presented the award to co-founder Bénédicte de Villemeur at the Zoomark trade fair in Bologna. “We are also the best GPS pet tracker on Trustpilot with 4.7 out of 5 stars,” emphasised Business Manager Franck Théry at the award ceremony. Over 16,000 consumers have rated our winner there, and most of them have been extremely positive.

Especially in these difficult economic times, it is important for pet shops that products not only generate margins, but are also well received by customers and sell well – this is clearly the case here, with over 250,000 consumers already relying on Weenect solutions. Over 350 specialist retailers took part in the vote this year, and 28.1 per cent also put the Weenect XT at the top of their list. The result was relatively clear compared to previous years. The second-placed product in this category received 19.4 per cent of the votes – Weenect was therefore able to successfully defend its title.

Extreme challenges

At last year’s Interzoo pet trade fair in Nuremberg, Weenect, the French market leader for GPS trackers for dogs and cats, launched its first product for adventurous dogs: the Weenect XT – a GPS collar for dogs with high-performance antenna technology, extra-long battery life and a powerful LED light.

The Weenect XT is designed for large and small dogs that love extreme challenges. The tracker comes with a collar specially developed by Julius K9, which is extremely robust and fits dogs with a neck circumference of 37.5 to 56.5 cm – a standard measurement for most dog breeds. Weighing 54.2 grams, the tracker itself is suitable for all dogs.

“Our brand cooperation is a solution to cheap products from China,” emphasised Théry. “When major European brands work together, they can create new solutions with quality and high-grade materials.” Of course, the electronic parts also come from the Far East, but development, programming, design and marketing are based in Paris and Brussels. Final assembly also takes place in France.

Specially developed for particularly adventurous dogs, the Weenect XT proves to be a reliable partner, especially in environments that are more difficult for GPS trackers, such as forests and the mountainous regions of the Alps. “In Austria and Switzerland, the network is always an issue,” says Théry. However, the new antenna technology enables 99 per cent coverage within Europe.

The Weenext XT is equipped with a Thales GPS module that gives it access to all current satellite systems (GPS, Galileo, Beidou and Glonass). This makes location tracking particularly accurate. And since seconds can be crucial when searching for a pet, Weenect is the only GPS manufacturer that provides a new GPS position every second, with no distance limit.

Another highlight

“The high demand for longer battery life inspired us to develop a tracker that is suitable for both large and small dogs in terms of weight,” explained Ferdinand Rousseau, co-founder and head of product development at Weenect. “With its particularly long battery life of up to three weeks, it is now possible to go on trekking trips lasting several weeks without having to worry about recharging the tracker.”

Another highlight of the new tracker is its powerful LED light signal. According to the manufacturer, this is twice as strong as that of standard trackers and allows the dog to be located visually even in the dark.

The GPS tracker is easy to operate with the Weenect app, available for iOS and Android. Functions such as recall training thanks to sound and vibration signals via GPS or activity tracking are particularly interesting for active dogs that love to explore.

“The idea of developing the collar for the Weenect XT arose from a meeting where we quickly realised that we share the same attitude,” said Gyula “Julius” Seb ”o, founder of Julius-K9. The resulting Weenect-JK9 collar is certainly only “the first milestone in the collaboration between our two brands.”

To curb the overproduction of plastic and electronic devices and reduce waste, Weenect offers a lifetime warranty on its Weenect XT. The company is also aware of the high quality of its product and wants to counteract the trend of constantly buying new ones. The lifetime warranty covers both manufacturing defects and natural wear and tear of the product. Only loss or misuse by the customer is not covered.
