The pet store chain Super Zoo, belonging to pet supplies retailer Plaček Group, has opened its 350th store in Pilsen in the Czech Republic. The chain is setting new trends in the pet sector with its innovations.

The Plaček Group has been active in the pet supplies segment for more than 30 years. During this period, the Czech company has become one of the key players in the European market in the field of pet care. Stores under the Super Zoo brand can be found in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia. In Poland, the Plaček Group operates stores under the brand Kakadu Zoo and in Latvia under the Dino Zoo brand. “We are pleased that pet owners come to shop with us. Thanks to the high customer demand, we can open more stores and reach out to them even more. Accessibility for all customers is a priority for us,” says Dušan Plaček, owner and founder of the retail group.

In the Czech Republic, Super Zoo holds a leading position in the pet supplies sphere. This is also confirmed by the increase in sales despite the current situation, where retail sales across all segments in the Czech Republic have been declining for several months. “The first half of the year was very successful for us despite the economic situation in the Czech Republic. Unlike in other segments, we did not observe any changes in buying behaviour.

Our customers still indulge their pets just the same, in some cases even more. The year-on-year increase in sales is around 12 per cent,” says Luboš Rejchrt, Super Zoo’s chief operating officer.

The Plaček Group has declared 2023 a year of innovations for its retail brand Super Zoo in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The innovations apply to the product range as well as the services and activities offered by the company. At the beginning of this year, the Super Zoo chain launched a mobile app that offers not only faster but also more economical shopping, thanks to special discount promotions for loyal customers. In addition, the second half of the year will see the addition of the option to choose between electronic or regular receipts. The electronic receipt will be saved to the customer’s account, making their purchases more environmentally friendly.
