The new Tetra BalanceBalls promote nitrate breakdown in the freshwater aquarium and can be used in any normal external filter. They consist of polymers that are insoluble in water, which provide food for denitrifying bacteria as well as aiding the formation of a biofilm that these bacteria can colonise. The balls also ensure optimal long-term water parameters: as the bacteria break down the balls, nitrogen is removed from the water, while carbonate hardness (KH) is created. This stabilises the pH value and maintains equilibrium between the water values.
