New player in the Spanish online market

The number of online stores in Spain is on the increase. One of the latest to appear in the market is Vanypets.com. The shop was established in 2014 and the company plans to open high street stores in Spain too.

A new company with plenty of experience: this sounds like a contradiction in terms at first, but the description fits Spanish online retailer Vanypets.com, according to marketing manager Gema Sánchez Prieto. Of the company set up in 2014 and now supplying products to Spain and Portugal, she says: "Indeed we are a new company, set up for professionals and specialists in the pet market. But our management team consists of professionals in online and offline distribution channels and marketing, and experts in the pet market, some of them with more than 20 years of experience." The company's short-term goal, says Sánchez Prieto, is an ambitious one: "We want to turn into a market leader." Although the company, which presently employs 19 people, is aware of how competitive the market is, it considers itself to be satisfactorily positioned with the range of products it offers. Vanypets.com has a full range of food and accessories for all kinds of pets as well as various specialities. "Our range of products is very wide. We offer specific products for pets such as food and accessories, like a normal online store. But our product and service strategy is very open and we have developed a totally different line of business in our market, making us different from the rest of the companies out there." The range of Vanypet products thus extends from basic to more exclusive lines, with a unique category comprising the most exclusive and original products on the market. "We are also the only Spanish online pet store that focuses on pet leisure. On our website the customer can find everything for pets in this segment, including a 'Happy Pet Birthday Party'." According to the company, it seeks to obtain its products primarily from irreproachable sources. "We look for high-quality products made mainly in Europe and we try to avoid low-quality products or products made in countries without employment law regulations. We are also focused on delivery, which is another critical area for us. We want to deliver as fast as possible. Currently we deliver within 24/48 hours, but we are working very hard to improve this."

Assistance for animals in distress

As well as focusing on the happy side of pets' lives, however, the online store is also concerned about the dark side of life for Spanish pets and above all it wants to render assistance.
