Based in Melle in northern Germany, Bunny Tierernährung has been in existence since 1988 and is one of the leading suppliers to the pet trade of food for small animals. The company employs around 50 people and dispatches approx. 70 000 consignments of its products to customers every year. As well as the German-speaking countries, Bunny Tierernährung serves twelve other countries in Europe, and exports account for around 20 per cent of its sales.
In the next few months the small animal specialist aims to make a fresh start, beginning with the relaunch of its product range. Virtually everything is new. The packaging of all basic food products is now less scientifically oriented and more clearly laid out, with a greater emotional appeal to consumers. Change of recipe The relaunch also includes improving the recipes further, and the new "TriMello" shape for rabbits has been adapted to the specific food intake behaviour of the pet. A gentler pressing process is intended to make food intake easier, improving immediate acceptance by the pets.
The food range for rabbits has been extended to include a special product for rabbits kept outdoors in winter (Rabbit Dream Winter-Outdoor), a senior product for pets aged seven and upwards and a Nature Shuttle product. The latter caters to pets previously fed on a diet that was too high in calories and sugar content, and should aid the transition to natural nutrition. A newly developed 4 kg bag with carry handle and zipper should also be more convenient for customers.
The "TriMello" shape has also been modified for guinea pigs, chinchillas and degus with the aim of making feeding easier for the animals. The new shape should make it easier for guinea pigs to position the food with their paw, while chinchillas and degus can hold it much more securely in their paws when feeding. A senior product and Nature Shuttle variety have been introduced for guinea pigs. Chinchilla Dream BASIC is another new product in the range too, a basic food for chinchillas. The proFit balance line of health foods has been given a new livery in which greater attention is paid to clarity and transparency. Bunny has also introduced a new product in this line that satisfies the requirements of granivorous small mammals.
