At Interzoo the company presented eco-friendly, fashionable accessories for dogs and cats. The company’s products are manufactured in three factories, two in China (Zhongshan und Guangdong province) and one in Taiwan (Chang Hwa). Over 1 million articles are manufactured per month. The headquarters of Hi-Light International are in Taipei Hsien, where the company employs 30 people. Grace Tan is the general manager. Hi-Light International of Taiwan has been involved in the pet business since 1994 and has steadily built up its international activities in the last few years. Its customers include trading companies in more than ten countries including the USA, the UK, Italy and Germany. The company also had its own stand at the Interzoo trade show in Nuremberg. Over 1 000 products in the range Hi-Light International has over 1 000 different products in its range, which are produced individually to meet customers’ requirements. Its products include halters, bits and spurs etc. for horses, collars, leashes, harnesses and training products for dogs and collars, harnesses and clothes for cats. The materials used by Hi-Light International include steel, leather, leatherette, nylon, PVC and polypropylene. With regard to webbing products, Hi-Light International is able to provide a variety of surface finishes for its clients. They can choose from silk print, thermal print, braided or patterned webbing as well. The company has also been swift to react to the growing trend for eco-products. At Interzoo, Hi-Light International presented a line of bamboo collars and leashes under the brand name “Love Earth”. All products come with recognised eco-certification. The company refers to studies by scientists that have shown that bamboo owns a unique anti-bacteria and bacteriostatic bio-agent named “bamboo kun”. This substance is tightly combined with bamboo cellulose during the process of bamboo fibre production, explains the company. Bamboo fibre is a biodegradable textile material. As a natural cellulose fibre, it can be 100 per cent biodegraded in soil by microorganisms and sunshine. Another innovation presented at Interzoo was “Pet Yarn”, a line of leashes and collars made from yarn – according to Hi-Light International, a material that is not only eco-friendly, but also durable, lightweight, quick-drying and comfortable.
