Since it was established in 1964, Imac has attained a high level of production mechanisation and has defined its own business strategy from the outset by applying a stringent selection process in the choice of its raw material suppliers. “This philosophy remains one of the foundations on which we base our future development,” states Gianluca Gattazzo, managing director of Imac. The degree of automation achieved permits more than 700 articles to be manu-factured with a high level of production flexibility and facilitates fast delivery to meet the needs of customers in 48 countries. Safe products To support its global expansion, Imac is developing a communication strategy to position its own brand in the market as well as raising its profile. “The new image that is being defined reflects the company’s business dynamism as well as its technological innovation,” Gianluca Gattazzo continues. The company’s team of industrial designers realises the ideas originally elaborated by the sales and marketing department for the development of pet accessories. “To guarantee the safety and comfort of pets, we use only non-toxic materials and purchase raw materials only from suppliers who guarantee the relevant safety certificates,” states Gianluca Gattazzo. The manager exercises full quality control from start to finish to check the safety of the parts and accessories used in the final product. For example, the locks on rodent cages are carefully checked to prevent injury to the delicate legs of hamsters. Product durability, a long accessory service life and pet safety are absolutely not the prerogatives of cheap products. Imac is aiming to design and manufacture exclusively middle-to-high-level pet accessories, therefore. The new products are being launched at Interzoo, where an astonishing range of bowls will be shown. “Our design makes a difference in simple accessories above all, and this time we have certainly involved ourselves in a bold and challenging marketing strategy,” Gianluca Gattazzo continues. Sustainability strategy Sensitive to the needs of pets and the environment, Imac is developing a strong sustainability strategy. The firm has invested extensively in new machinery to manufacture metal cages for rodents using a “flat-pack” system. At present 95 per cent of rodent cages come folded as well as some bird cage models. The target is to reduce the use of cardboard and warehouse space as well as optimising freight transport.
