Quality and innovationThe German family firm Josera has been in existence for 65 years and is now in the hands of the third generation of the family. The modern equipment used in its pet food factory, which includes two extruders, guarantees careful processing of the raw ingredients. Precision instruments in the company's in-house laboratory are used to analyse all the important parameters from proteins, fat and raw fibre to trace elements. Full traceability is ensured by taking samples of each raw material delivered that are kept up to expiry of the minimum shelf life date of the finished product. The production process is automated and logged electronically. At Josera great importance is attached to a manufacturing process that conserves resources and respects the environment, along with an intelligent quality assurance system. Certification in accordance with DIN ISO 9001:2000 and HACCP forms the basis for this. The company regards itself as a supplier of quality plus innovation. Its range of dog food introduced three years ago, with the super premium line "Josera Emotion", is on course for success and this year it is getting a new look: the Josera brand is emphasised more strongly and the packaging indicates the benefits of the respective product, thus offering the customer better orientation and aiding the speciality retailer considerably in the provision of advice. Bewital banks on the medium-price rangeThe German company Bewital has deliberately positioned itself with its brand "Bewi Dog" in the medium-price range. Now the company has re-launched "Bewi Dog"  and aligned itself more closely to the requirements of the specialised trade. "Our customers appreciate us for what we have been delivering successfully for many years: producing top quality dog food at fair prices without the bells and whistles," managing director Dr. Wigger says. His company targets the dog owner with one or more dogs who lives in close touch with nature, as well as the successful dog breeder or the active dog athlete, and relies on good advice rather than on expensive advertising campaigns. According to the company's information, "Bewi Dog" enjoys enormous popularity in clubs, with trainers and with breeders.
