The International Fair for Pet Professionals, organised by Fira de Barcelona, closed its doors on Hall 2 of the Montjuïc exhibition centre on 9 October. The organiser of the show reported that 12 000 trade visitors found their way to the halls of the Montjuic exhibition site, a figure that was 1 500 down on the previous show two years ago. In Barcelona the decline in visitors to Sizoo is being attributed to the rival Iberzoo show, which took place a few days earlier in Zaragoza. Major companies such as Royal Canin and Iams Pet Food, for example, were absent from Sizoo. However, companies with large stands at Sizoo included Affinity, Nestle Purina and Dibaq, and many other well-known firms were represented at the show by Spanish importers. Sizoo collaborates with the most prestigious organisations, such as the National Association of Manufacturers of Pet Food (ANFAAC), the Association of Veterinarians Specialising in Small Animals (AVEPA), the Spanish Royal Canine Society and the Spanish Business Society of the Animal Health and Nutrition Industry, among others.
Spanish manufacturer Affinity had one of the most impressive stands at Sizoo.
Sizoo showcased a wide range of products from practically the entire market. 110 exhibitors, 35 per cent of them from abroad, occupied an exhibition area of 31 000 m2 and presented 445 brands. In addition to a major contingent of foreign companies, 5 per cent of the visitors were trade professionals from 49 countries. The highest percentage of Spanish trade visitors came from Catalonia (79 per cent), followed by the community of Valencia (5 per cent) and Madrid and Andalusia (3 per cent). The breakdown of visitors by profession was as follows: 32 per cent shop assistants, 20 per cent manufacturers, 12 per cent veterinarians, 10 per cent breeders, 9 per cent wholesalers and 5 per cent import/export professionals and grooming services. On two days of the Sizoo show, the fourth Pets Festival, open to the general public, took place in Halls Z6, 6 and 7. This leisure and educational event was visited by over 33 000 people.
12 000 visitors attended Sizoo and 33 000 came to the Pets Festival.
