The company's headquarters are in Warsaw, where the warehouse, some of the production and the distribution, R&D and quality control functions are based. With a 300-strong workforce, Aquael is one of the leading manufacturers of pet products in Poland. The company is owned by husband and wife team Janusz and Bogumila Jankiewicz. Janusz Jankiewicz is principally responsible for the design and launch of new products, while his wife Bogumila handles marketing. Since 1984 the couple have headed a dynamic, highly motivated team of skilled staff. Aquael specializes in the production and distribution of high-quality aquarium and pond requisites, and its range comprises around 300 products, plus spare parts, some accessories and special versions. Production takes place here too. Computer-aided technology (CAD/CAM) and modern production machinery are the key to the company's high level of innovation. This year Aquael has introduced a new internal filter range equipped with zeolith and carbon ("Turbo Filter"), a new range of garden pond pumps ("PFN Aqua Jet") and power heads ("Circulation") as well as exhibiting at all the major national and international fairs. Plans are in the pipeline to launch a new range of external filters shortly.Aquael at the Pet Fair in Lodz.Aquael sells its products in Poland to local distributors, supermarkets and garden centres and also directly from the warehouse to pet shop owners. In export, which contributes 60 per cent of the total turnover, the company sells its products in some countries to exclusive distributors, in other countries to local distributors and also to big pet stores. Export destinations include virtually all European countries as well as Australia, New Zealand, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Israel. In the USA, Aquael set up a branch earlier this year in Brooklyn, in the state of Wisconsin, from which it can step up its operations in the US market. To this end new ranges are already being produced in conformity with standards applying in the USA. Aquael is also looking to open up new markets in the future.   maj
