Carefresh supports six animal welfare organisations

The small pet bedding brand carefresh has announced the winners of this year’s ‘Carefresh Gives Back’ programme. As part of the initiative, now in its eighth year, the company is supporting six animal welfare organisations in the USA and Canada with Carefresh bedding and vouchers for the rehoming of small pets.

This year’s recipients include the Avalon Microsanctuary in Portland (Oregon), the Buffalo Guinea Pig Mafia in Buffalo (New York), Dolly’s Dream Home Rabbit Rescue in St Louis (Missouri), Happy Horizon Hamster Haven in Cincinnati (Ohio), Rat Way Sanctuary in Portland (Oregon) and 10,000 Carrots Rabbit Rescue in Nova Scotia, Canada.

The organisations receive donations of Carefresh bedding as well as vouchers, which they can pass on to new owners when small animals are adopted.

Since the programme’s launch in 2019, carefresh says it has already donated more than 115,000 litres of bedding to small animal rescue centres and animal welfare organisations across North America. This is intended to support the health and wellbeing of hundreds of small animals.

Carefresh is part of the Healthy Pet brand. According to the manufacturer, the bedding is made from recovered fibres and consists of 100 per cent biodegradable, compostable and sustainably sourced materials. It is also said to offer odour control for up to ten days and high absorbency.
