German pet food manufacturer Bewital has opened a plant in Weihai in the Chinese province of Shandong – its first production site outside its home region, the Münsterland. Output is intended exclusively for the Chinese market and is made together with Megapet, the Shenzhen distributor that has held exclusive rights to Bewital brands in China since 2019.
The site is operated by Bewital Pet Food (Shandong), a company set up for the purpose. According to Munich-based FE Beteiligungsgesellschaft, which advised on the project and held 20% until this year, the partners decided in 2023 to build a wet food facility in China; capital was paid in and equipment installed during 2025. FE sold its stake to Bewital once production started. No investment figure, capacity or headcount has been published.
