PetIQ, a leading company in the field of animal health and wellbeing and a portfolio company of the Bansk Group, has announced that it has completed the acquisition of Myos Corp and its Fortetropin-based product portfolio for muscle health in the animal health sector.
The acquisition expands PetIQ’s growing portfolio of veterinary medicines, dietary supplements and wellness brands to include a leading, clinically studied brand for muscle health, as well as its patented Fortetropin active ingredient technology, thereby further strengthening the company’s position as a market leader in animal health and wellbeing, according to the press release.
The focus of every Myos product is Fortetropin, a proprietary, patented bioactive active ingredient that supports muscle growth and maintenance by modulating myostatin, the body’s natural regulator of muscle mass.
’Pet owners are increasingly looking for solutions that promote their pets’ mobility, recovery and long-term vitality – rather than simply seeking treatment once a problem has already arisen, ’ said Camillo Pane, Chief Executive Officer of PetIQ. ’Myos has been working closely with vets for over a decade to explore the scientific foundations of muscle health, which has led to the development of Fortetropin as a proprietary, differentiated and clinically proven active ingredient. ’
PetIQ aims to expand the brand through its ‘Insights-First’ approach, its expertise in brand building, and its nationwide presence in brick-and-mortar retail and e-commerce. Myos’s product lines will become a core offering within the broader health and wellness portfolio, whilst the brand and the active ingredient Fortetropin will continue to be marketed under their existing names.
