Nestlé Purina is set to make a significant investment in production capacity with a new CHF 520 million factory in Mantua, Italy, to meet the sustained growth in demand for pet food, the company announced in a press release. The facility will combine a wet food production plant with a highly efficient logistics platform supplying both Purina and other Nestlé brands.
The plant will produce super-premium wet food for cats and dogs for Purina’s key brands. This investment brings the number of Purina production sites in Europe to 15, which together cater for around 111 million cats and around 91 million dogs across Europe. The pet food division now accounts for 29% of Nestlé’s turnover in the Europe zone and continues to record strong organic growth, driven primarily by internal growth.
