Montego and Petshop Science set Guinness World Record

A new Guinness World Record title for the largest donation of pet food within 24 hours was set at the Bloem Show by Montego Pet Nutrition and Petshop Science. Driven by strong public support at the popular agricultural and entertainment event in Bloemfontein, Montego Pet Nutrition and Petshop Science collected 67,200 kg of pet food – surpassing the previous record of 36,750 kg, which had been set in the United States in 2023.

The record attempt took place from 1 May at 17:00 to 2 May at 17:00, with representatives from Guinness World Records verifying each donation and independently monitoring the process before confirming the final total. All donations collected will be distributed to eight registered animal welfare organisations in the Free State, with additional allocations going to animal shelters in other provinces.

‘It shows what is possible when people come together for a cause,’ says Trevor Paxton, Managing Director of Petshop Science. ‘A record is one thing, but what matters is where this food goes – and what difference it will make.’
