Kormotech, an international family business with Ukrainian roots, is continuing to expand its presence in Romania. The brand was recently launched in two new chains simultaneously, the company reports in a press release. It is now available at Fressnapf, a pet supplies retailer, and Hornbach, a hypermarket chain for home, construction and gardening. This brings the total number of chains carrying Kormotech brands in Romania to 11.
Fressnapf operates in 15 European countries and has more than 30 stores in Romania, the manufacturer reports. All of these stores now offer Optimeal wet and dry food, super-premium food for cats and dogs, Club 4 Paws, premium food and wet food from Delickcious. These are the first Fressnapf stores in Europe to carry Kormotech products.
Hornbach is one of Europe's largest DIY chains and is represented in nine countries. Hornbach currently has 11 stores in Romania and plans to open six more in the coming years, according to Kormotech. From now on, all physical stores and the online shop will offer My Love brand wet food and Delickcious treats. Kormotech is considering further expanding its product range.
The market launch at Fressnapf and Hornbach in Romania was carried out in collaboration with Servicii Publice S.A., one of the leading importers of veterinary medicines in Romania with over 30 years of experience in local distribution.
‘It is important for us to work with manufacturers who understand the needs of Romanian consumers and maintain a balance between quality and affordable prices,’ says Sorina Radu, head of the pet food department at Servicii Publice S.A.
In 2024, Kormotech sold 5.5 thousand tonnes of cat and dog food in Romania, worth a total of almost 10 mio dollars, according to its own figures. Throughout 2025, the company systematically expanded its presence in Romania. It entered the specialised pet retail chains Zoocenter and Zoomania, both operated by pet retailer Profipet, which operates in Romania and Bulgaria. Last year, Kormotech's brands also became available in 60 stores and online through Animax, the largest pet store chain in Romania with over 100 stores across the country. Animax is part of Pet Network International, which brings together five pet store brands in Southeast European countries.
The company's products are also available at the online supermarket Sezamo, which belongs to the European Rohlik Group, operating in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria and Germany, as well as at eMAG, one of the largest marketplaces in Eastern Europe, which is present not only in Romania but also in Bulgaria and Hungary.
In Romania, Kormotech's brands are also represented in the DCNeu Cash & Carry and Profi food chains, the Maxi Pet specialist chain and the Dedeman DIY chain.
Kormotech emphasises that the pet food market in Romania is one of the most promising in Central and Eastern Europe. According to the company, a qualitative change in demand is currently taking place: consumers have a better understanding of how nutrition affects animal health and are therefore placing higher demands on the composition of pet food products in all price segments. At the same time, the category of snacks and supplementary products is growing rapidly, especially in the modern e-commerce channel.
