The rapidly growing markets for veterinary medicine and pet care in Saudi Arabia set the tone for this year's trade fair at the end of November.
The veterinary sector in Saudi Arabia has seen growth in recent years: According to reports, the kingdom's veterinary market is expected to reach a volume of 204 mio US-dollar by 2027, with an annual growth rate of 5%. The Saudi pet care market is also growing and is estimated to be worth around 1.17 bn US-dollar, with an annual growth rate of more than 9%. This market momentum provided the backdrop for the fourth edition of the jointly organised Global Veterinary Expo and Pet Expo in Riyadh.
This year, exhibitors from 20 countries and 120 local and international companies from the fields of veterinary technology, veterinary medicines, research centres, academic institutions, therapeutic services, public health, disease prevention and animal nutrition presented themselves at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The opening day was dedicated to investment opportunities and marked the start of a three-day programme focusing on veterinary innovations and the expanding pet industry. These included the international dog and cat beauty contest to improve the skills of breeders and specialists, the ‘My Pet in My Life’ competition to promote animal welfare, the cat show with educational insights into cat breeds, and the specialised grooming masterclass to develop skills and explore global trends in animal care. A series of panel discussions and workshops on veterinary medicine and animal care will also be offered by experts from the field.
