A commercial for Optimeal, Kormotech's holistic super-premium cat and dog food, has won the prestigious Red Dot Award, according to a press release. The German Red Dot Award acknowledges the best solutions in branding, advertising, and product design.
The Optimeal Holistic brand team created the 30-second video in cooperation with the world-renowned Ukrainian creative agency banda. The minimalist video combines an Afghan hound running in slow motion with an emotional voice-over text. The ad focuses on the role animals have in our lives, emphasizing the brand's slogan: ‘Optimeal Holistic is food for people who want their pets to live longer.’
The human perspective
‘Most pet food commercials are based on an imaginary animal perspective, as if they are the ones making decisions and people are secondary characters,’ says Artem Karelin, creative director at banda. ‘For Optimeal, we took a different approach. Because the truth is, animals don't care about longevity. It's important to us. We don't want to lose our pets too soon. We are willing to do everything we can to keep them with us for longer.’

A new holistic concept
First shared at the European pet care exhibition Zoomark International in 2025, the commercial is part of the presentation of the updated Optimeal Holistic concept, according to the press release. The new products are designed to support long-term animal health and tailored to the nutritional needs of pets of different ages, sizes, and physiological characteristics, containing live probiotics, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, ingredients for joint health, and cognitive support.
‘We worked on the new Optimeal Holistic concept with responsible pet owners in mind, who understand how important a balanced diet is for supporting the longevity of animals,’ says brand manager Roman Shpak. ‘We are delighted that this idea has been given a strong visual embodiment and has resonated with the world.’
The Optimeal Holistic ad was presented in the Film & Animation category of the Red Dot Award, which covers all formats of video and animation projects. It was evaluated by jury of 30 international experts based on three criteria: the original idea, design quality, and impact on the audience.
