After more than 49 years of successful work in building one of Switzerland's market leaders in wholesale animal feed and accessories, Delphin-Amazonia is breaking new ground: for reasons of age and family, the Schmid family has decided to hand over the business activities of Delphin-Amazonia to new owners, thereby securing its long-term succession. The company has found a forward-looking succession solution together with a group of entrepreneurs, advised by Nachfolgepartner AG, effective April 1, Delphin-Amazonia reports in a press release.
“The family's deep understanding of the animal feed and accessories market in Switzerland is a key reason why we chose this solution,” explained Werner Schmid, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “This expansion of expertise and the commitment to the Münchenstein location are important building blocks of this partnership.”
Adrian Dietz will thus take over the management of the business. The previous managing director had previously run the company together with CEO Thomas Schmid. Marketing Director Thomas Schmidt took over as CEO three years ago during a generational change when Werner Schmid retired from operational business to join the Board of Directors. Dietz “brings extensive experience and fresh ideas to the table and will ensure that the high quality standards and values for which Delphin-Amazonia is known continue to be upheld,” the statement continued.
Product range, workforce, and brand taken over
Not much is likely to change for customers. As part of the succession plan, DA Pet Supplies AG has taken over not only the product range but also a large part of the workforce, the Münchenstein site, and the well-positioned Delphin-Amazonia brand. The two most important customers are Petfriends AG, the number three in brick-and-mortar retail in Switzerland, and ipet.ch, the number one Swiss online retailer for pet food and accessories.
In addition, the new owners have already begun investing in the modernization of the company and its own brands, “with the aim of further optimizing and expanding Delphin-Amazonia's range of services and processes so that Delphin-Amazonia can continue to serve its customers reliably and quickly for the next 50 years.”
