Factory tour, food tasting, anniversary talk: On 26 June, the German wet food manufacturer Terra Canis invited guests to a special media day at its factory near Munich, Germany. The occasion was the 20th anniversary of the brand, which has been setting standards in dog food since 2005 with its claim of “100 per cent food-grade quality of all raw materials.”

Presenter Nina Ruge, a self-confessed dog lover with heart and expertise, led the special day's programme. After a welcome by COO Thomas Reinarz, who welcomed the guests to the “technical heart of Terra Canis,” there was an exclusive tour of the production facilities. Plant manager Mario Schmidt explained the company's own artisanal processes: much of the production is done by hand and with butchery expertise. Particular emphasis was placed on the care taken in selecting and processing the ingredients – preferably from the region and of the highest quality.

“The Petershausen site is to be further expanded and production capacity tripled,” revealed managing director Reinarz – a clear commitment to the future and growth of the brand. “Terra Canis wants to continue to be a pioneer in quality and animal welfare in its third decade.”

The guests discussed current challenges and trends in animal nutrition with the management team and veterinarian Dr Anna-Lena Ziese. It became clear that even after 20 years, Terra Canis remains committed to quality, transparency and innovation. Terra Canis' head of marketing, Nora Rilinger, recalled the milestones in the company's history – from cooking the first recipes in her private kitchen to its current market position.

Another highlight was the presentation of the anniversary products, including the birthday recipe “Beef with green asparagus and rosemary potatoes.” In keeping with tradition, guests were invited to try the dog food themselves, following the example of founder Birgitta Ornau, who once demonstrated on camera that Terra Canis products are also edible for humans and that the food quality standard is more than just a promise.
