Pet food in the USA reaches new inflation heights

Inflation continues to rise in the USA and is increasingly impacting the development of the pet product industry. According to the pet trade magazine Petfood Industry, US pet food inflation reached 10.9 per cent in July, up from its previous high of 10.3 per cent in June. Driven at least partially by higher pet food prices, inflation for the entire pet category increased to 9.1 per cent in July from 8.8 per cent in June. In June, the Consumer Price Index in the USA was up by 9.1 per cent, beating the previous high of 8.6 per cent in May.
