Mars Petcare Europe premieres new product

Mars Petcare is preparing to use food-safe recycled plastic in its packaging for wet food for pets. The company is thus backing an increase in the proportion of recycled material in its plastic packaging worldwide. It intends to market its Sheba cat food first in the sustainable packaging.
Together with packaging companies SABIC and Huhtamaki, the company has developed a method for using recycled plastic to manufacture food-safe pet food pouches. The Sheba pouches incorporating recycled material will help Mars Petcare to achieve faster its aims of attaining an average recycling quota of 30 per cent in plastic packaging and reducing the use of new plastic by 25 per cent.
