The dog is the main pet kept in Australia, according to a new study of the continent's pet population by market research company Roy Morgan Research. 38.4 per cent of Australians aged 14 years and over said that they owned at least one dog. 23.6 per cent said they owned at least one cat, while 11.7 per cent said they owned at least one dog and one cat. Over 15 000 people were surveyed for the study.
