Fressnapf intends to join forces with a leading international property group to build a new logistics centre at logport I in Duisburg-Rheinhausen. The pet product retailer plans to erect an import warehouse there to receive goods from Asia and North America in particular. According to Fressnapf, Duisburg was chosen as the location on account of the excellent transport links of the Port of Duisburg and its role as a prominent logistics hub for central Europe. Alfred Glander, head of merchandise, logistics and cross-channel marketing at Fressnapf, believes that the flow of goods for augmenting the private label range in particular will benefit from the new logistics centre.
Fressnapf aims to create up to 150 jobs at the new logistics centre. Subject to approval by the relevant authorities, construction of the logistics centre is expected to commence this year.
