New days for world-leading fair

The foremost international fair for pet requisites, Interzoo, will always run from a Tuesday to a Friday in May from 2018 onwards. This was the decision taken by the fair organisers Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe (WZF) based on a recommendation by the Interzoo fair committee. "Based on our analysis of the statistics relating to the visitor structure and visitor numbers on previous show days and following an evaluation of visitor and exhibitor questionnaires during previous fairs, we have decided to change the show days of Interzoo to better accommodate the needs of visitors and exhibitors," explains WZF managing director Herbert Bollhöfer.
Hans-Jochen Büngener, chairman of the Interzoo fair committee, adds: "The proportion of international visitors and decision-makers has increased continuously in recent years with a stronger preference for attending the fair on a Thursday and Friday."
As the day on which retail sales are strongest, Saturday is not a good day for retailers to visit the show. "In addition, fewer and fewer German pet product retailers visit Interzoo on a Sunday. They prefer to attend the fair on Ascension Day," says Büngener. This holiday in Germany falls on a Thursday and so the WZF intends to incorporate this day into the new fair days. Future Interzoo dates are Tuesday 8 May to Friday 11 May 2018 and Tuesday 19 May to Friday 22 May 2020.
