A study shows that shoppers in Portugal are searching for low prices and finding them in hypermarkets

According to a report from the Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA), some 70 per cent of Portuguese consumers choose to shop in hypermarkets to save money. This is according to a study by the Portuguese Association for Consumer Protection. Price is by far the largest factor in the choice of a store, followed by proximity, variety and an increased supply of cheaper products. Two thirds of respondents frequently use discount coupons, while only 4 per cent make online purchases. After the price, around three out of four consumers look for healthy and tasty food.
