Aquatlantis marks 30 years

Portuguese pet and aquatics specialist Aquatlantis celebrated its 30th anniversary on 8 July 2026. Founded in 1996 and based in Guimarães, the company builds on more than 60 years of founding-family experience in the sector, developing aquarium and pet products with a stated focus on quality, design and, more recently, sustainability.

Marking the milestone, the firm thanked its employees, customers and partners, framing the anniversary as ‘the next chapter' in a legacy spanning more than six decades. ‘The first 30 years have been written,' the company said.

Aquatlantis was set up in 1996 by José Pereira, who brought some 50 years of aquarium-making experience, together with his three children, and remains a family-run business. From its Guimarães base it manufactures glass aquariums under the Aquatlantis Aquarium brand, reptile and amphibian terrariums under Terratlantis (launched in 2005), and complete shop-fitting modules for pet stores (from 2001) – producing metalwork, woodwork, glass and injection-moulded parts in-house.

The ISO 9001-certified manufacturer exports around 98% of its output to more than 30 countries, supplying pet retailers, trade professionals and hobbyists, with France a directly served market through its Aquatlantis France subsidiary since 2018.
