US pet supplies market continues to expand

The volume of sales reached US$55.7 bn last year

The US pet supplies market grew last year by 4.5 per cent compared with 2012 to US$55.7 bn, according to Bob Vetere, president and CEO of the American Pet Products Association (APPA). Pet services showed the largest percentage of growth last year, rising 6.1 per cent from 2012 and putting spending in that category at $4.41 bn. This year the market is expected to grow to as much as US$58.51, an increase of 4.9 per cent over 2013.
