Sales by the American chain increased to $1.7 bn in the second quarter

The American pet supplies chain PetSmart increased its sales by 5.3 per cent in the second quarter to $1.7 bn. Comparable store sales, or sales in stores open at least a year, grew by 3.4 per cent. Services sales, which are included in total sales, grew by 7.3 per cent to $205 mio. Carrie Teffner, senior vice president and chief financial officer, expressed satisfaction with the figures and anticipates comparable store sales growth of 3 to 4 per cent for fiscal 2013.
