PIJAC recognises leading figures

Jim Heim from Central Garden & Pet was presented with the “Lifetime Achievement Award”

The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council (PIJAC) has recognised leading figures in the pet sector nationwide for their contributions to the pet industry. Awards were given to:
Bob Ashley from ECO Publishing and Brian Potter from Chicago Reptile House as “Pet Advocates of the Year”. They operate the leading reptile show in the country – the North American Reptile Breeders Conference.
Sandy Moore from Segrest Farms as “Pet Industry Leader of the Year”. She has served on the PIJAC board for four years. As the head of the Aquatics Committee, she has recruited industry leaders, coordinated the work of renowned experts on coral issues, and spearheaded opposition to a ban on clown fish and selected species of coral used in the trade.
Jim Boschee from the World Pet Association Board as PIJAC Ambassador of the Year. Boschee has worked tirelessly to promote the importance of advocacy for the pet industry.
Joe Watson from Petland received the “PIJAC Chairman’s Award of Excellence”. He heads the largest retail chain in the country selling puppies. He is active in the dog breeding community, making significant improvements to the health of puppies and breeding dogs.
Jim Heim from Central Garden & Pet received the “Lifetime Achievement Award”. He served on the PIJAC board of directors for seven years and as chairman for four years.
